Pools are the decision mechanisms that make up a Gardens community’s governance. They are modular and can be set up in any number of instances, each with their own voting weight system, parameters, and purpose. Community Members can pick and choose which Pools to participate in by activating or deactivating their governance in each Pool.
Characteristics of a well-designed Pool
- The Pool’s purpose is narrowly defined and is realistic to achieve.
- The terms of participating in the Pool are clear to community members
- Voting weight system is optimized to take advantage of the *wisdom of the crowds.*

Voting Weight Systems:
- Fixed - everyone in the community has the same voting weight
- Capped - voting weight equals a member’s tokens staked in the community, up to a max limit
- Unlimited - voting weight equals a member’s tokens staked in the community, no max
- Quadratic - voting weight is the square root of a member’s tokens staked in the community
